To coincide with the Sydney press tour of the blockbuster Hollywood film, universal pictures staged a daring stunt on top of the Glebe Island Silos this week. The film’s director and producer were in on the action, alongside the Aussie stunt team from the film.
To mark the start of the global press tour for The Fall Guy in Sydney, director David Leitch went to new heights to promote the film earlier this week with a larger-than-life, never-been-done-before stunt on top of the Glebe Island Silos, the largest billboard in the Southern Hemisphere.
Alongside producer Kelly McCormick, Leitch reunited with his Aussie stunt team who worked on the film to mark the occasion, with an impressive display of stunt coordination and skill, at 34 metres high above Sydney. Returning to the city where the film was shot, Leitch and his stunt team performed a heart-stopping stunt sequence to the spectacular backdrop of the city, which included abseiling down the billboard before a daring fight sequence unfolded.
Suzanne Stretton-Brown, Director of Marketing, Universal Pictures Australia & New Zealand said of the activation, “Our ambition was to transform traditional OOH format with a bold PR activation. At 34 metres high, this billboard presented the perfect backdrop to unveil a dynamic action sequence, and a unique opportunity to blend cinematic thrill with real-world spectacle, pushing the boundaries of what advertising can achieve.”
It was a market first activation for oOh!media who not only provided the spectacular backdrop for the stunt with its blockbuster-sized billboard, but also played a key role in ensuring access to the location and approvals from the many stakeholders.
Chris Freel, Group Director Sales, oOh!media said, “Elevating The Fall Guy to new heights in Sydney, and on our iconic Glebe Silos, was an unmissable opportunity!”
The activation also culminated in an exclusive media interview with Australia’s breakfast TV program Sunrise, with former Olympian and Sunrise host Matt Shirvington braving heights to interview Leitch and McCormick.
Boasting an all-star cast including Oscar® nominee Ryan Gosling (Barbie, La La Land, Drive), Oscar® nominee Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place films, Sicario), Emmy® winner Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) and Golden Globe® winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train), the hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller is a love letter to action movies and the hard-working and under-appreciated crew of people who make them.
